Settled In

So I'm in Southern California now, Cerritos to be exact. I've been here for a week now and so far it's been good. The job search is still going, everything from the local retail store to hitting up friends to hook me up in the animation field. We'll see what happens.

This weekend was Wizard World LA and I was helping Eric Canete with his artist alley table. This is the first show where he was selling some of his 90 minute sketches and they sold well along with his new sketchbook Halogen: Halo.

This year's convention experience has been different for me. I usually roam the hall looking for artists to do sketches for me, instead I'm working a table and trying to talk to industry professionals that can give me good insight in how to break in as a writer.

I was able to pick C.B. Cebulski's brain for a few minutes and he gave me some very good advice along with a few names of associate editors that are receptive to new writers pitching to them. As fun as it is to talk to the writers and artists you admire, editors are the people you have to talk to to get work. C.B. was extremely nice and helpful (if you happen to read this C.B. thank you again for your time). He's a class act.

This year is shaping up to be an exciting year.
